Windfall (2022)

Rating: 8.1

Wow.. this was actually pretty good! I was compelled from the very first scene, the script in this movie is brimming with tension! It’s one of those movies that feels like it could just have easily been a play (a chamber thriller), and I love how they made it work for film here! The use of setting was also fantastic! It’s driven by some electric acting and great dialogue, Jesse Plemons is my favourite here but I still loved Lily Collins and Jason Segal. The overall premise is pretty minimalistic, but this thriller keeps it interesting and fresh the whole way through, especially at the shocking ending! While the direction, cinematography, and everything else are pretty much average for this type of film, it’s the acting and writing that really makes this film stand out for me! I really enjoyed it, it’s a great way to spend an hour and a half! It’s not a perfect match for the quality of the great Alfred Hitchcock’s films … but to me it really did seem a lot like a modern Hitchcockian film!
