I mean… it’s not the worst thing I’ve ever seen. Certainly not great, but it’s not horrible. It’s just so… bland. So lifeless. So forgettable. You’d think with the talents of Chris Evans and Ana de Armas being directed by the director of Rocketman (a movie I loved) that this movie couldn’t fail. But man it really missed the mark. First off, where’d the chemistry go that Chris and Ana had on Knives Out?! It’s non-existent here. Genuinely it seemed so stale; like they were never on set shooting together. And yet they actually are still the best part of the movie — without them it would have probably been unwatchable. The true issue here is the script… it’s generic and feels like it was written by AI. There’s no heart, no life to it. It really feels like business dictated the story and the movie is really just written by committee, only including elements they think sell. Plus the twists in the film spiral out of control, and the cameos become way too much. It really just feels like one of the movies that would have had a trailer at the start of Tropic Thunder… it’s not great and we shouldn’t reward this level of laziness in filmmaking.

Fun Fact: Scarlett Johansson was originally cast in the lead role, which would have marked a reunion with Chris Evans after sharing the screen together in over nine movies (most of them in the Marvel Cinematic Universe). However, Johansson dropped out due to scheduling conflicts and Ana de Armas replaced her, another of Evans' frequent collaborators (they starred together in Knives Out (2019) and The Gray Man (2022)).
