Extraction 2 (2023)

Streaming Now on Netflix
Rating: 7.3
Meh 🤷🏼‍♂️

Am I the only one who doesn’t really like the Extraction movies… at all? They both feel so lifeless, soulless, devoid of character… only focused on the action and stunts. Sure, you could probably says similar thing about the “John Wick” films, but at least in those you could feel the stakes, the filmmakers really made it feel cinematic, and while it was really only about the action and stunts… it always felt like you got something more than that. Here… it’s just the action and stunts… if you don’t enjoy those… we’ll you’re out of luck because it doesn’t offer anything else. The set pieces are better than in the first film and quite thrilling, but everything else makes it feel like the most generic action film ever. Not to mention with it being released on Netflix… it just doesn’t have the same effect as a theatrical film. Chris Hemsworth is a great action lead and fits the movie very well, I just wish he had more to do acting-wise. It wasn’t that compelling of a movie to me… just a lot of action noise that blends together in my memory… not anything memorable at all. It’s well done from an action standpoint, it just didn’t have anything else to it.
The near 20 minute one take action scene was pretty impressive though… even I can’t deny my jaw was on the floor.
